The most influential FPS game ever which would give rise to other popular first person shooter franchises in the decades that followed. While it was certainly revolutionary at the time, the game obviously shows its age now, with plenty of better and more modern alternatives to choose from. I personally played this game to experience how the whole series began, and it was overall a fun time. Even though the level design got a little stale to me (as someone who 100% completed each level), the game provided some challenge in the later levels, requiring proper resource management. Given the technological limitations of the time, the developers excelled at making a great experience from the soundtrack down to the way the weapons feel. The enemies were bullet-spongey, making them feel threatening, especially in the many tight spaces found in each of the levels. I don't think it is too far-fetched to think I may end up coming back to this game every now and then to try out some of the mods that are available.
