A really crappy games for an iconic franchise.
I love DBZ, the anime and the manga and I also loved when in 1997 i played this game.
The presentation was very cool! A great intro and a selection of 22 (or 27 with a cheat) character to choose made with a great use of 2d sprite with semi 3d background.
Great theme for every character (the Trunk's one was really amazing) .
So why only 3 stars? Because the gameplay is awful! The movements are slow and the combinations to make some moves other than the usual kick-fist are very difficult.
Even the graphics for the energy attack it's ugly. A yellow kamekameha?!?!?!?!?
In the end it is a beautiful presentation of what could have been done with a dragonball game on ps1 with hopelessly broken gameplay.
Two more stars just for nostalgia...if it's any consolation this isn't even the worst of the titles on ps1
