This game makes me ashamed to be a Sonic fan- and it's already embarrassing enough to be one of those.

The only reason this garbage fire is 2 stars instead of 1 is because I really love the character customization and, honestly, they should bring it back. Sue me.

I play 3D sonic to play sonic in 3D. I've never liked the 2D side-scrolling parts- not in past games, and especially not in this game. Why is classic sonic even back?! You're banking purely on nostalgia and dress up games and it makes you look unconfident, Sega. If you worry people aren't going to buy it without those two things- make the base game better first before you decide to pad it. I'd rather play just sonic than play 2d boy and original the character (even if I love character customization.)

I'm sorry, but the controls suck. The level design is so incredibly boring. The story is literally written as if they wanted to remind us how cool Sonic from the past was. Aw, man, look! Classic Sonic! Whoa, Metal Sonic-- Chaos! Whoa!! Look at our new villain, Infinite! Aw, remember how cool Mephiles was? How cool Shadow is? Wow, edgy villain! So cool!

He is the most boring villain I have ever seen. And he had so much potential. Like- does Sega even care? Remember the villain from Sonic and the Black Knight? What happened to villains like that?

Anyway, my wolf daughter is very cute and I love her. She's the only joy I've gotten out of this miserable game. If you were going to back off of nostalgia, Sega, at least bring back the Chao Garden. I want to care for my chao as a silly little wolf, please

Its always been alarming how well the CAC is done compared to literally everything else in the game to me, like jfc they had to TRY to make the boost formula and 2.5D Classic stages exponentially worse and they succeeded in that regard.

LITERALLY! like- the boost stages in sonic unleashed were so great and i dont understand why they think changing the formula is going to make it better than how they did it in unleashed. or how classic sonic controlled in sonic generations. like- don't fix what isn't broken, sega. its like they wanted to make it as painful as possible, as you said LOL

This is just par for the course sadly, even with Frontiers being the 30th "fresh start" I wouldn't be surprised if Sega just threw away all the promise it has and cut the writing/ development staff again to blatantly ignore what was handed to them with that game. Also its so rare to see Unleashed praise of any kind I thought I was hallucinating for a second 😭

unleashed deserves more love than it got 🥺 hes just a lil ugly, guys, its okay. just feed him a snickers bar, he'll bounce back

(real talk- i dont think the werehog is that bad.) yeah the levels are too long- they could've shortened them by a lot imo. but it was a fine concept. and whoever says sonic games cant be slow paced has never played the knuckles stages in sonic adventure. do i want the whole game to be slow? course not. but thats what the day stages are for, baby! we love that variety!

100%, I've never been too mad about lengthy stages in this series (I mean I could stomache 7-12 minutes spent in Heroes stages and that not even be one of my complaints about the game) or even the Werehog's inclusion in the first place. Definitely could've cut out a few encounters and my lord the use of the battle them just gets excessive by the 5th stage. But besides those things Unleashed and Generations were the closest we ever got to displaying how absurdly fast Sonic could really go in a 3D setting (and be fun at the same time miraculously!) since like Adventure, despite the 2D sections being more prominent than the 3D ones in Generations. I also find it odd that only one of them has a PC port but Sega just doesn't want free money I guess :\
