amazing vibes, great story mode, no I will not be progressing very far in the ranks because I can't be assed to determine whether I should sidestep left or right for a few specific moves per character in a """3D""" fighting game or figuring out fucking throw break flowcharts and this heat smash +12 on block shit is just,, give me a break man. been seriously fun for me otherwise since it broke a longtime friend into fighting games but it's very very hard to take seriously. might be a casual but whatever, sf6 is also there and way more engaging

could totally change with time/patches (albeit I've heard several times that 7 got bad near the end of its life) but as is I wish I could try taking an older tekken online instead. which is maybe close to how my friend & I are playing it (sidesteps aside) as we don't leverage heat all that much in our sets and neither of us plays like king or drag or whatever. much more goofy footsies that we're both bad at

every tekken game without fail I end up wishing I put more time into the last one but doubly so here. catching up to 20 years of knowledge checks is rough enough without heat in the mix. really fun game, but for now I'm strictly in the "fuck around and have fun while I wait for sagat" space rather than the one where I lab king grabs all afternoon

it'd be sooo much more approachable if I didn't have to take heat mode per character into account. i don't know what they were thinking if the intention was to make the game more accessible.. obv it lets newcomers feel like they're doing something by forcing their turn with super power crush/free mixups and enhanced moves that track like hell, but it is not fun to deal with when you're on the receiving end
