When Half-Life 2 came out, everyone was awestruck by the realistic physics. You could even break a wooden plank in half with a crowbar! This was total freedom.

Then came a preview video from LucasArts, showcasing a new video game where the wood breaking was procedurally animated and not pre-baked! Now, this is total freedom!

Then the game came out and it wasn't fun. Turns out games need more than wood breaking physics to be good. An important lesson was learned.
