Bayonetta 3, despite the ending, is undoubtedly the best of the series so far.

It takes the fast-paced hack and slash combat and ramps it up with new weapons and abilities - allowing for a much more varied playstyle (and I ended up sticking to a more long-ranged weapon).

It also introduces the ability to play as other characters, including the new Viola, who, despite liking the character herself, I found to be a waking nightmare everytime I had to endure her chapters. Maybe I'm just terrible at the game but I felt that Viola just controlled horribly.

Then, we also have the Jeanne chapters, which are a side-scrolling infiltration-style side missions that help to expand the story past what Bayonetta herself is up to. They also were not something I enjoyed by any means.

On top of that, this game felt like it was throwing in so many homages to other games - with a shoot 'em up reminiscent of something from Nier: Automata, a tonne of what felt almost like ripped-off scenes from the Devil May Cry series (including a Michael Jackson dance moment, akin to DMC5).

Unfortunately and ultimately the story itself felt rushed and a little forced, especially at the end when things were just happening to seemingly wrap it up as if they'd been too focused on the build up and then realised 'ah, crap, we're at the end quick just write something to end it'.

--------- S P O I L E R S ----------

I swear to god if going forward they keep to the ending and what it suggested, this franchise is absolutely dead to me.
I do not need a Bayonetta game that does not feature Cereza as the main character.
