I’m saying this as someone who loves to read books and cares about things like new media, video game writing tends to be extremely subpar. Which is why I was so surprised how insanely complex and nuanced this was, the attention to writing and story craft isn’t normal, it’s an outlier. There’s a reason this game inspires people to write essays, why it gets studied in courses, why people make countless video essays, why if you meet someone who likes it they will speak for ages about it, why it’s held up as such an important milestone in video games, it truly is That good of a game.
