Akame is cool and all, but being forced to complete certain tasks just for the main story to unlock is unforgivable. Most of the tasks just feel like chores, with some being repetitive.

I'm glad that we returned to the old yakuza-style combat for this game, as I've already made clear my view on turn-based combat.
The combat is good, albeit a little sluggish. Though it's been like that ever since 0 and Kiwami 1/2. The story is nice despite being quite short. It's an enjoyable prequel to Like a dragon, explaining what happened in between.
Something else I loved was costume customisation, a feature that's been lacking in this series, and I'm glad we got some in this one.

Absolutely loved the last 1v1 boss fight, reminded me of the good old yakuza glory, something the series has unfortunately lost with the later games.
The ending scene was very wholesome and sad at the same time.
