It's not bad, but for me it was far from good. The level design and enemy placement is what you would expect: the most unfair random arcade BS made to drain your wallet.
I played the Arcade version, which I think it's the best one, with the better and more colourful graphics and infinite continues (which take out most of the game's challenge tbh)... well, at least until the final boss, where they take out ANY of your continues and it's game over in the very first hit taken, taking you back to the VERY FIRST LEVEL OF THE GAME. And there's FOURTEEN levels here.
I simply ragequit and watched the game's ending on youtube. It's charming, has some good tunes and all... but a very skippable game IMO. At least the rest of the franchise is amazing though...
