Playing this shortly after New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe was a real treat, a reminder that I don't dislike platformers, that was just a mediocre at best game. Mario Wonder is fast, fun, colorful, and full of whimsy. Multiplayer works quite well, though the sheer amount of stuff on the screen can make it difficult to follow multiple people. But that chaos is just part of the fun! I wish badges were better implemented, I ended up using the same 2 or 3 badges a lot of the time. The character roster could have also been better. Nobody asked for three different yoshis, or nabbit, when we could have had, say, characters like Rosalina or Wario (dare I ask for Waluigi?). But this is definitely a confident stride in the right direction for 2D Mario games.
