All kinds of just baffling and bad decisions here. The racing feels like shit. When you do play with assists and the like, the game just seems to wrest all control from you. When you dare to accidentally hit the inside section of Daytona, the game basically punishes you not with some goofy track warning but just actively slowing you down without even one option to hard steer right to go back on the course. The game's new use of Unreal is pointless because there's no Series X version, which also means all versions run at 30FPS and thus everything feels even more like shit. Also, I try not to be a graphics snob about this as nearly every racing game I play (even the clearly budget-strained one) tends to at least look ok and this doesn't. Just a bad time. Might as well bring back NASCAR Heat, which has its faults but actually had the bones of a functional experience.
