Modern Mario titles are always kind of tough to review for me. I'm extremely critical of the art style, which has more or less ossified into the bland 3D look we're currently stuck with, and I find the gameplay to be "Typically functional and polished and also infrequently exciting." But despite those criticisms, I found this entry to be pretty enjoyable -- much moreso than New SMBU.
