Despite being the weakest of the 4 games that I've played, I still found MGS 4 to be a really good time. The cutscene-to-gameplay ratio is definitely skewed in the wrong direction, but I found myself very invested in the story and characters here. The gameplay was also refined to a T (until V came along) with mechanics that are so deep you probably won't understand a lot of them on your first playthrough.

While there are a plethora of cutscenes, they were all extremely well directed. I found myself engrossed in most of them thanks to excellent camera work and series best performances by most of the voice cast. This also has what is most likely my favorite soundtrack of the series thus far. Love Theme has been played on repeat a lot lately.

Despite the overall fantastic gameplay, I did feel that bosses were the weakest that they've ever been here. They were either too easy, needlessly finicky, or just downright lifeless. The fact that there wasn't more creative ways to take down some of these enemies was a bit weak imo, especially since a lot of them are meant to reflect previous bosses in the series.

Still, even with some issues, I found MGS 4 to be a great conclusion to Solid Snake's story and to the series as a whole. Even though I played Phantom Pain a long time ago, I'm gonna be revisiting it and playing Ground Zeroes for the first time as well to give the series a proper send-off and reevaluate my opinions.
