This game is very ahead of the curve for early SNES RPG's plots and settings. A very VERY one of a kind game with dumb easy combat unfortunately. However the atmosphere and insane plot highlights make it up. When most games were focusing on defeating a main enemy and honestly generic visuals, this game comes in and says no to all of that and does it's own thing entirely. It's a game that can be admired to this day for it's one of a kind setup, even with many, MANY, MANY sequels and and especially spinoffs later. This game stands on it's own which is impressive as hell. Good game.
