I guess NDcube finally realized that all they needed to do was continue the legacy of Hudson Soft and make normal Mario Party games.
Super Mario Party was that step in the right direction, and I'd say this is the in-between. Not the next step since it's a remake of 5 boards from the N64 games with an assortment of past minigames from 1-10.
It's definitely good, but I can only hope that the game will eventually get updates with more content. The character roster is abysmal and I kinda wish there were boards from more than just 1-3.
The minigame modes are given a heavy blow as the devs clearly focused much more on the Party mode this time around (likely due to the critical reception that The Top 100 was given). Still, there's definitely some positives.
NDcube got their shit together and released the game with a fully fleshed out online mode, though communication with other players is limited to stickers with sound clips or the switch online app.
There's an actual achievement system, which does somewhat encourage continued play. Though, again, they would need way more content for me to be interested in playing enough to earn most of those achievements.
The shop includes some standard MP extra content, including an encyclopedia, albeit with some incredibly vague entries (there is a model viewer though, so that's cool).
Basically, this game has a good deal of content, but, for what is essentially a Mario Party all stars pack, it no doubt deserves even more.
