Please please please play Tetris Effect.

It doesn’t try to be anything different from Tetris.
Tetris is, after all, just Tetris.

But the experience, oh my god. Playing this with a headphone and the lights off is an spiritual thing. And I can’t recommend it enough.

The visuals, the music, EVERYTHING is perfect. Even though you’re focusing on the blocks falling, it’s hard not to try to place them while trying to sync the movements with the beat.

The game is a journey, you go through beautiful visuals like the depths of the sea, to climbing a huge mountain covered in snow. You watch a group of humans traversing a desert, to watching a lone robot exploring the moon.

Even though it’s like. Just Tetris, you know? It feels like it speaks to the human nature and at some point it just got to me. It is indeed all connected.

The last map, Metamorphosis, is a long one. The goal is 90 lines cleared and mind you, I was never really Good at Tetris.
That really felt like a struggle at first, and I barely managed to clear it in easy mode, but with each try I got so much better at it.

Everytime I tried, I got a little further and when I finally beat it in normal mode, it was so fast, so freeing. It felt so good.
