The best mario party since the GameCube, and all they had to do was steal from the games people actually liked. 5 maps is a pitiful number (especially when Peach's Birthday cake is one of them) but every other essential component for a good Mario Party is present. The minigames slap, 4 of the 5 boards are bangers, and the "throwback" presentation is wonderful. The only other complaint is that the offerings outside of the main party mode leave a lot to be desired, but it' not a dealbreaker in the slightest. If Nintendo can harness this energy into a game with completely original content Mario Party may be back in a big way.
