A really fun FPS and a great Hypnospace spinoff. Each weapon is fun to use and the audio and visual feedback from killing enemies feels great. With super detailed levels and tons of interactivity, this fictionalized version of Boise, Idaho feels real and lived in. The voice acting is also great, with Zane and friends sounding appropriately goofy, and the enemies sounding fittingly unhinged. As expected from a game in the Hypnospace universe, it has a lot of heart despite all of the edgy humor and gore. When you're not surrounded by enemies, the killer metal soundtrack becomes a melancholic melody perfect for exploring the bittersweet memories of Zane's past. Behind the facade of a badass X Slayer, Zane is a passionate man who not only wants to make a cool game, but also hopes to make a better life for him and his daughter, as his mother once did for him. The ending was a bit abrupt and unsatisfying, but the bonus maps are a nice way to provide some more challenge and more lore. I was really impressed with this game and I'll likely be replaying it many times in the future.
