Honestly speaking, at this point, Croteam should stop making Serious Sam games. Just like Stronghold, there is almost no way to recreate the magic of the originals. When they tried to write a more detailed story beginning with Serious Sam 3 they really lost focus on what matters it seems. BFE was stupid and Serious Sam 4 is even worse. "Well, I don't play those games for a deep story!", you might think and you're right, we don't. But the game itself is bad. From a gameplay and even from a technical view. Most of the fights are not really satisfying. It feels more like they build a really bad looking location and throw random enemies in there. First Encounter, Second Encounter and even Serious Sam 2 felt more orchestrated when it comes to the fights. It felt like they really thought about what enemies they spawned. SS4 is just chaos most of the time. Oh and the game itself? There bugged "quest markers", flickering textures, broken particle effects (like at one point I couldn't see anything because my whole screen went grey while firing my minigun) and more, that diminish the experience. There are not even memorable scenes. I just finished it and I can't remember a single awesome scene. When I think back to SS:FE and SS:SE plenty of levels and scenes spring to my mind. And that is why Serious Sam 4 is more than trivial. It's forgettable and when they make another one maybe they should give it to another studio that rethinks the formula.
