This series is well-regarded and I wanted to give it a chance, but this type of game (4X) just doesn't appeal to me. To hold my interest, there generally needs to be a story-based campaign, or at least interesting/unique scenarios (preferably with exciting tactical combat) à la Warcraft/StarCraft. I think it's too free-form and high-level for my taste.
