they're reading a translation and now that while the true cultural and connotative meaning of the original text may be obscured to them, that translation itself is a separate art form worthy of appreciation, and engaging with a well-done translation is like stargazing: one nation's interpretation of a particular constellation may be different than another, but all the world sees the same sky. we live by the same core themes, emotions, feeling, and values, and reading in translation allows oneself to expand the breadth of one's readership in conjuction with the presence of the source text, not behind or below it <3
