While the final boss and few choice moments were unfairly difficult, Gears of War 3 on Insane was an enjoyable experience due to its refined gameplay and balanced fights. The story is still mediocre nonsense, but that's fine. I think 2 will always remain my favorite for its more memorable set pieces. 3 is great in its own ways. Multiplayer and Horde are okay (single-player) for what they are, albeit never truly intended to be played predominately alone. Overall, a game worth the time I've invested through three playthroughs now, if only to be satisfied by some of the best third-person cover-based shooting for its time.
