This is quite fun to play with friends, discussing your choices and theory crafting. It's basically like watching a horror movie where you have some agency. Surely anyone who watched a scary movie has been in the situation of yelling at the screen, berating the characters for making dumb choices. Well, here you can actually make the choices yourself, and see how you would fare.

There is not much gameplay to speak of, it basically consists of QTEs and the occasional shooting minigame, but that's not what this game aims to be. This game wants to be an interactive, cheesy horror flick, and it succeeds, as far as I'm concerned.

I particularly like the atmosphere: it is extremely campy and full to the brim with classic horror tropes. It's not really scary, per se, but it is simply dumb fun. The storyline is intriguing enough, especially when you are trying to figure out the mystery behind the events in the game. Unfortunately, the plot doesn't really hold water, and from a logical standpoint, it breaks down after minimal scrutiny. But that's just common for this particular kind of horror story.

The main gripes I have with the game are the fact that it is a bit too slow at the beginning, and a lot of the choices are inconsequential. The ending is also kind of disappointing: it seems like the game is building up to a fight with the big baddy that's pulling all the strings from the shadows, but that never really happens.

Nevertheless, this is a solid choice for a weekend of dumb fun. I recommend playing with friends, or with your significant other. It is also the perfect experience to share with someone that has zero experience in gaming.
