I can relate to the ending quite a bit.

I feel like if the developer had given more time and effort to this project, they could have developed this into something really special.

They did, actually. Seems like this game was a little prologue of sorts for the next game to come- Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk. Haven't actually played it myself but the reviews on Steam are really good.
