The game sucks ass, when you raise the bars and the expectations of the fans you don't just make the same game and add few things as if it's a DLC, the first action in the first few hours of the gameplay is too extreme proves that they desperately want to grab the attention of the player, and it goes for too long to a point where I want it to end so I can move on, there was no creativity in fighting style, your only way out in any fighting sequence is to use the arkham fighting techniques the entire game, while the good parts is played automatically by the game itself. They focused so much on the gadgets they forgot to be creative with the fighting skills. insomniac is known for its creativity with the gadgets and weapons but when it comes to spider-man it didn't work well as most of the gadgets are so lame and had no purpose other than making the combat go for so long. The villains aren't as organised as the previous game. When you start fighting goons another sequence starts with extra villains and then the last sequence starts, which is a boss fight, instead the game chose to have up to 4 to 5 waves even after a boss fight making the player drained and tired of combating enemies with the same exact fighting technique they used in most of the games, which is hit, dodge hit. The side missions sucks ass, when I play spider-man the last thing I think about is hacking and programming, you can put that shit in movies but not in games. Someone in the office said "I have an idea, let's make spider-man shoot webs to stop water leaks from the pipe to help the environment" or "let's have him program and hack stuff to help his best friend Harry finish his project" why don't we let him pay taxes and mortgage as well? Where is the side missions where you have to race jhonny storm? Or fight wolverine in some random bar, or saving civilians from a hazardous environment such as trains, burning buildings or even constructionsites ? Instead they let him send a small robotic spider the has a strength of a man knocking walls with electrical shock wave saving people from a burning building by making an escape way, like wtf was that about ? The skins sucks ass too, most of them looked overwhelming some looked better and few were awesome. But they never ever thought that maybe I wanna have a peter Parker skin without any outfit or masks. Now let's talk about miles, now we all know that insomniac went for the GTA 5 approach in making charecter switch which was so unnecessary for spiderman, they could've had a multiplayer mode for that, but they didn't take the chance, when the majority of the players asked for it even way before the game finished from developing. Now we have miles which is such a drag, and overwhelming to use with his annoying voice that I'm stuck with the entire game, and his cringy outfits that I will only unlock to get some achievements, and the unnecessary choice of switching between characters other than the fact that they had to give us that option because of the forced story telling of both sides. And no, insomniac NNNO I do not want to play as merry Jane, keep that shit out of my sight and out of my experience, I don't care if you wanna make her look badass, I still prefer to stick to one or two characters and by two characters I mean spider-man and Venom. And what's with venom ? People were so desperate to play him out in the open they had to glitch it out, why did they keep the whole experience so centerlized around the story mode to a point where insomniac forgot to give the freedom to the player to explore characters in such open environments ? At this point I felt like I've been forced to sit through the game to give credit for something I did not enjoy. This game is like putting a child in a sand box with legos that are glued together expecting him to have fun just by looking at it. And the performance was nothing special about it let alone miles that made me wanna shoot myself in the ears. The game overall is boring time consuming with nothing special going on. The cut scenes I was fighting my urge to skip most of it because of the dull writing. Keep in mind most of my expectations to this game came from old spider-man games, so there is no excuse of why it can't happen or why it can't be added. 1 out of 5
