was not expecting to like this game less than Tower of Doom, but some of the changes to the game i largely just found annoying. the introduction of the backdash when double pressing jump took a little getting used to, but the change in how inventory works was quite annoying compared to the first games more immediate "goes to the next available thing" whereas in this you may have to cycle through empty slots which mid-battle is a bit of a pain. by far the most annoying addition however is the inventory limit, resulting in moments where you'll see an item like a new sword on the ground, pick it up only for another item in your inventory to drop to the ground when the inventory is full. fair enough, but this creates a problem in the middle of fighting a bunch of enemies when an item drops to the ground amidst the bunch. considering the pick up item and attack button are the same, i more than once found myself rapidly picking up an item (then dropping its replacement with my full inventory) like a madman when i was just trying to attack the fuckin skeleton boys surrounding me
