Octopath Traveler definitely felt as though it was on the precipice of greatness when I played it back in 2018, so to play this second game which achieves exactly that feels like the most delicious treat. I never felt bored with this game, it's truly a love letter to the SNES-era RPG with a whole handful of modern tweaks to make the game more accessible and less annoying. They also do a much better job at blending the travelers' stories and bringing it together with an overarching plot. Square Enix's HD-2D games have been some of the best things to happen to JRPGs in recent memory so I'm stoked to play whatever comes next in this style.
