It's been over 10 years since I played the original Dead Space, so my memory of its intricacies is certainly hazy, but the fact that this remake is able to exceed my remembrance of that original experience is telling. Everything done here is lovingly reflective of the original game and the parts that are different are welcome additions. Having Isaac speak is done thoughtfully, without overwhelming the player with dialogue, and the side missions are interesting exposition into the series' awesome lore. This remake does still have a couple issues that the original game did as well, such as unoriginal boss fights and some disorienting zero gravity combat, but nothing there takes away from this otherwise excellent experience.
