the real panzer dragoon experience

i did beat this one in just under an hour, however! it's insane how much the graphical overhaul makes things less frustrating and easier to read. some of it could be that i just beat the orignal, yeah, but it was significantly easier to see enemies and projectiles in this remake. not to mention the 'modern' controls make it so much more intuitive to play, so much so i'd say it almost makes the game too easy, though i played on normal so playing the remake on hard would probably alleviate this problem. i died once and it wasnt even in the dreaded level 5, it was to level 4's boss. lol. there is one bug i encountered in both PD and PDR, however. it always puts me in first person view whenever i try to change what direction im looking. also strangely enough, in PDR you cant move the dragon unless you're looking forward. this was not the case with PD, so im curious why the change. didnt give me too much trouble though, clearly.

the art direction from the original is beautifully translated, all the levels i thought were beautiful remain as such, and id say reach their full potential here. the levels i thought were ugly also get a new coat of paint, however. apparently level 5 is a rain forest. i couldnt tell that in the original lol! and level 6 is a swampy, nearly below sea level village. they all look super great in PDR, definitely worth the 2.5 i got it for. the music still remains goated here as well, Flight is one of the best tracks ive ever heard. i could somewhat understand the story here too lol.

remember how i loved the credit sequence of the original? here it's the same idea, but almost poetic in a sense. instead of seeing the original's concept art, you see the remake's concept art. they almost complete each other in a sense, the respective teams' clear passion being on full display during both credits. it was a beautiful sight to behold. and hey, i dont feel like it wasn't a worthwhile experience anymore.

if youre looking to play panzer dragoon without the hassle, go with this one. if you suffer through the original like i did, though, you might just get even more out of the remake. but i wouldnt reccomend it, honestly. just play PDR.
