this was one of the games that was handed down to me among other SNES and NES games by my family. trying to play this when i was young was a bit of a fool's errand due to the difficulty of some of the platforming and bosses not to mention how tricky some of the hidden script page locations were.

playing it today, i was surprised how difficult i found parts of it still. i have a lot of nostalgic affection for this (and all of the other games i played in my childhood) but this is definitely in the mid to lower tier of SNES platformers i've played. i think i would've felt a bit more positive in the end if the last level had more to offer besides a shitty boss rush before heading into the actual last boss but it wasn't to be.
