What an incredible first ending to a video game. The scene between Peter and Nikki is really great writing and paced so well, and then the second to last boss fight was fine but felt emotional closing.
AND THEN. THEY ADD ON LITERALLY ANOTHER HALF CHAPTER. It’s not the most egregious thing in the world bc it’s exactly one fight, but it just feels like when comedians extend a bit for one beat too many, and you’re like “no you actually had it and we were vibing but you extended it too long and now it leaves a weird taste in my mouth”. Thematically there is truly no reason for this. The concept of sacrifice holds no wait because a) Groot immediately can res him but also b) Peter’s problem was never needing to learn to sacrifice himself. That’s a very MCU Star Lord move, but this one is so on board with being a team and being from a leader that from square one you’re like “yeah this guy would die for these people who he barely knows”.
