northeastern ohio through the lens of someone not from there which is rlly fascinating to me..theresa duncan creates an image of a place altogether foreign to her in the same way the children in the story dream of nyc or paris. it does not need or even want to be realistic in any sense. it’s a vague impression of how a place like cortland might look and sound and it’s place that’s altogether inspired by and created by a collection of artists from all over america,, that’s cute !

I was a real ignorant temporary tourist when I visited ohio but I really loved the landscapes. driving thru the country and highways and everything was something I found to be exceptionally beautiful. didn't stay long enough to understand it the way other folks might, but it's always something I look back at as one of my favourite experiences visiting the US

(i have looked into this game many a time because the creator's a legend but i never played it cuz idk... i would feel bad if i played a childrens game and didnt like it because im not the target audience)

@BEAUTIFULBRUTE it’s a rlly beautiful short little game,, she did a couple other ones w a similar art style/vibe and just seemed like an all around cool artist
@curse i rlly only have an idea of what northeastern ohio looks and feels like and it’s a series of very complex troubled towns lol. same issues that plague the rest of middle america tbh. def is very pretty during the months where the weather is disgusting/the ppl aren’t quite as rude. been playing dusk recently and I think that’s a more real depiction of that area of america but i think this was like a real cute and hopeful idea of what a place like cortland could be!!
@personperson it’s a children’s game but not rlly like at all condescending in how it treats it’s audience. there’s like so many smart little visual gags and most everything in the games environment is able to be interacted w. also like there’s not much to the story but it def hints at bigger more adult themes which is nice to see like a creator making smth for kids but treating them like real people. think this was the first in the trio yea? so it would be rlly cool if the games after this continue to tackle more and more stuff. very chill game though like an easy rec and it’s like an hour long so no real time wasted if u do mess around w it,, u should just to see some of these designs.
also u should add me on disc,,,that goes for any mutual lmao😵💫

how did you emulate this? i couldnt figure out how to get it working on scummvm (i.e. where to dl the rom) and rhizome is laggy
@spl hii I played it via the rhizome page which yeah is crazy laggy but tbh ive played other rlly good stuff in worse conditions lol,, sorry im not able to help
