Do you love Doom? Do you love Lovecraftian horror? If so, you'd absolutely adore Forgive Me Father. This game ameliorates upon the fun gameplay loops from Doom 1, 2 and 64 whilst also adding in many elements of Lovecraftian, Cosmic and Eldritch horror with an art style that is brilliant and quite unlike anything I've ever seen.

The gameplay consists of shooting up Lovecraftian creatures, finding weapons, solving puzzles, discovering story pieces and secrets, and leveling up your character whilst traversing through the most crazy and cool environments. If you're wondering why there is a levelling up system in the game, Forgive Me Father also includes a massive branching skill tree that allows for you to upgrade all the utility and weapons that you will find throughout the game. This is done by utilizing skill points obtained through leveling up your character. This alone allows for a ton of replayability but beyond this, the game also adds in two new modes that are unlocked after completing the main campaign. These are New Game Plus and Endless Mode which are both sure to guarantee you a new, fun and fresh experience.

If you were wondering about the story of Forgive Me Father, you follow the story of either a priest or journalist as they go on a mission to track down a missing relative. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll leave it there. Although this game seems to have a much larger focus on it's gameplay, I can assure you that there is still a very cool story to be told filled with many twists and turns and that is represented through the game's crazy levels and animated cutscenes that feel like they are straight out of a comic book.

To sum things up, this game is fantastic. If you're at all interested in the gameplay of doom or have a keen interest in Lovecraftian horror, you're sure to enjoy this game and so I definitely encourage you to give it a shot.
