[REVIEW FOR BOTH BLACK SOULS I AND BLACK SOULS II]

I really tried, but I got filtered by the games, I understood what this game tried to be. And I completely understand it, I think the narrative of BS1 and BS2 is extremely interesting, and it tries to orchestrate into something much bigger, which, honestly? In terms of Narrative, I think is extremely fascinating. It is one of the most unique games I ever played, and the whole "You can do whatever you want" of it is an fairly interesting take, and overall something I haven't seen before.

Although, it makes sense why this game is niche. And there is an clear reason why it will forever stay that way. It is in the end, an H-RPG. If I want to grasp at everything out of it, in some way, I have to play the game the way it truly is. And I get it, this game is meant to be the sort of RPG that'll make you go into this whole "rabbit hole" of ordeals... But I feel like that alot of things, just alot of things could've been improved on.
I gave this game multiple chances, and completed it. I still think the narrative by far, is extremely interesting. I just wish it wasn't Black Souls. This game is an heavy mixed bag for me, and I feel like that it could have been more... Or perhaps, I should say, it should've been less. The sexualisation was too much, although for some times it was used to be genuienly striking, and just an way to convey the free right you have in this messed-up world. But in the end, what did I expect, truly? It's an H-RPG from dlsite. The problem with me wasn't with the heinous acts, it was simply with the sexualisation of it. The sexualisation, and perversion of it disgusted me. Maybe, just maybe if the characters weren't designed like strippers the point would've been more striking towards me, if it got rid of all of it, I would've praised this game. Being shown the scenes to me, isn't a problem. It never was.

Black Souls as a whole is what I would call something that was close to an work of art, but in my opinion, got ruined by simply being an H-RPG. It tried to both have sexualisation, while still trying to convey it's dark, and genuienly good narrative. But I just can't take it seriously.

Black Souls, you could have been so much more, and if one day, an game like this gets released, and just removes all the anime oversexualisation (Which I think even the biggest Black Souls fan can agree. Some characters were intentionally designed to just make you get off to it. You can overlook those and say it's still overall good, which is, sure. But I think that point is undeniable.

And no, oversexualisation, and showing those heinous acts aren't the same thing. (An example I'd like to give is Fear & Hunger, Fear & Hunger shows plenty of those things, SA and all that shit, and while it may be shock value, lazy or not it doesn't matter. It's not my point right now, Fear & Hunger shows those things, but you don't feel like as if it was made for someone to get off to it.)

Maybe I'm just overanalyzing in the end, an porn game with some pretty glitter. But in reality, I'm just saddened that I can't have an Black Souls II, without it being an Black Souls II.
