2023 gave us remakes of Dead Space and Resident Evil 4 (two games I didn't think needed remakes but in hindsight am glad we got), however unlike RE4 which stands along side the original as a unique experience that doesn't replace the original, Dead Space feels like a complete upgrade making the original almost feel obsolete. Dead Space remake does little more than add polish and ease of access in places that needed it, which really goes to show how incredible the original has aged if that's all it needed. This remake reminded us that Dead Space is still among the upper echelons of survival horror.
