OK SO now that I’ve had a steam deck for a few months now I believe it’s time for me to give my 2 cents on this beast of a device. And guess what? I love it. 100% honest here when I say that the Steam Deck is the best piece of gaming hardware released since the Xbox 360. The controls for this thing should be the gold standard for every controller going forward, control customization is quick and seamless, the track pads feel incredible, and the gyroscope is insanely precise. Plus there’s per game profiles for customizing performance for each game. I’ve replayed so many games on this this thing just because of the controls (shoutout to Potionomics especially. That game feels like it was MADE for the Steam Deck). Experimenting with what works best on this thing has been a joy too. This fucking behemoth of a handheld can run games like GTAV, Dark Souls III, and Fallout 4 at a near perfect 60 fps. Fucking wild. Emulation is also incredible on Deck. Thanks to EmuDeck and SteamRomManager, your roms will actually appear in your steam library and launch from there as if they’re native pc games. It is SO satisfying to have such a massive collection of titles all easily accessible in one place. So many incredible plugins are available too. Be they quality of life or just adding home menu music, themes, sound effects, and boot up and sleep mode animations. So yeah, the Steam Deck. I got the 512gb model and it really was worth every penny. Everyone should try playing TF2 while taking a shit at least once in their life.
