I have to respect Obsidian for the ambition and experimentation; this is so far removed from the main game that it's basically its own standalone experience. There's a good deal of atmosphere to take in and interesting characters to encounter. But I can't lie, it's kind of a bitch to play through...and that's completely by design. Stripped of your freedom, you are sent into what is essentially a giant deadly maze with limited resources and are forced to follow the orders of a huge asshole. It's kind of like Saw meets Bioshock, if your head blew up every few minutes. Navigating the Sierra Madre involves a whole lot of quick-saving followed by trial and error. And just when you think you've hit a point where you're passed all the bullshit, it comes back with a vengeance. Though admittedly it does incentivise you to keep a close eye on your environment for traps and valuable tokens as you explore, but that's kind of the way I play all Bethesda games anyways.

I see why this is such a divisive DLC. There's a ton of effort put into the world and characters but simply getting around is such a constant pain in the ass. I can't say for sure if experiencing this story is worth all the hassle. Took me about 8 or 9 hours to finish it and that doesn't take into account how many times I died and had to watch the loading screen over and over. If you're going to play it you better be ready to commit to it.

Ironic how it ends with the quote: "Finding it though...that's not the hard part. It's letting go." Because once I was done I was not looking back.
