To be honest I wanted to give it a 6/10 but I am too much of a fanboy to not ignore some things that bothered me. I can't really complain so much about the gameplay because Insomniac really tried to improve everything from combat to traversal. The new traversal with the new wings it's flawless and can't say anything bad about it but the combat well it was too simplified (compared to the first game) in a way or that was what I felt during my playtime.
My real gripe with the game is the story. Kraven is pretty well written as the ruthless hunter he's supposed to be and there were some story cues taken from Kraven Last Hunt but he doesn't have as much screen time as I've wanted but when he appears most of the time he steals the show in particular the last fight with him. But even though Kraven is cool, the entire story is kinda too slow somehow at least for me. Don't know if it's considered a spoiler but the selling point of the game (the villain that has a fucking statue in the collector's edition) aka Venom only appears in the last 20% of the story iirc. And because the story is supposed to be an introduction of the symbiotes, the whole black suit arc is predictable especially if you've experienced the same arc in the movies/other games/tv shows/comics.
Maybe the real problem is that I've expected too much story and gameplay wise from this game and my expectations weren't met.
At least for the sequel there are some villains set up to appear like the Goblins, Carnage, Chameleon, maybe Knull so Miles can have his venom/electricity sword power and some returning villains.
In the end, I am happy that Peter can have a fucking break and a nice relationship with MJ. Fuck you Zeb Wells in particular.

Later edit: Decided to lower the grade to reflect my original impression
