Well, they tried. At least I was only rereading

Played this because (a) it's a murder mystery and (b) I heard it was an influence for 999, and it certainly has a similar spirit. The game relies on being replayed. I made an incorrect deduction about who the murderer was and stumbled into a slasher horror piece. A replay knowing who they were meant that everyone was unharmed and I came out looking like a genius. There is an idea of drawing deductions from information you gained in 'bad routes' that the Zero Escape series draws on to its literal extreme. A fun, not particularly long investigation.

The iOS release makes some very odd localization choices, starting with changing kamaitachi to banshee and ending with changing the graphics/photos and setting to a ski lodge in Canada. Seems another thing it has in common with 999 is the Ship of Theseus problem--at what point does it become a different game?

Kamaitachi no Yoru(1994) and its predecessor Otogirisō(1992) are classic novel games.
After playing these two games, a young man created a game that would revolutionise otaku culture.
That game was To Heart(Shizuku & Kizuato).
After playing To Heart, many young people thought "I want to make a game like this too!". This is how novel games have flourished since the 2000s.
Among the young men were Kinoko Nasu, known for "Tsukihime" and "Fate", and Gen Urobuchi, known for "Phantom of Inferno" and "Madoka Magica".
If there is an origin to Japanese novel games, it is definitely these two(Kamaitachi no Yoru and Otogirisō).

...The explanation is long.
The main scenario is quite a real mystery, as it is written by a professional mystery writer.
However, this is a multi-scenario game, so when the main scenario ends, a completely different world scenario begins in the same place.
I think the best part of this game is this strangeness.
A strange novel game with the occult, laughter and a little bit of sex.
The sequel, 2, is also interesting (although some of the core fans hate it).
I didn't like the third one.
When it comes to remakes, it's out of the question. (That plain silhouette would have been better! Just a pretty girl character doesn't leave any room for imagination!)

It's an unfortunate situation that the only translated version is for iOS.

This is a fairly solid visual novel in the mystery tradition of Higurashi that really goes off the rails near the end. A lot of endings to discover, but not a ton in the way of an actual story here. Apparently you can only emulate it now, but if you're looking for a decent read and you've already played Zero Escape, Danganronpa, and all the rest, this is a fun diversion.

plz someone make a translation for this, my japanese is not good enough
