Bub and Bob are back! Bubble Bobble Double Shot is a respectful return to the series' roots, bringing Bubble Bobble to the DS with new additions to the classic formula. Based on the original Bubble Bobble arcade game first released in 1986, Bubble Bobble Double Shot stars the two Bubble Dragons, Bub and Bob who move over a system of platforms, busting and pushing bubbles, avoiding enemies and collecting a variety of power-ups. Bubble Bobble Double Shot for DS features a perfect re-creation of Bubble Bobble's frantic platforming gameplay, complete with all the secrets and fun gameplay that made the original such a rewarding game to master.

Fun little gibbidy boop. Really cranked the ol' joystick to get good at this one! Groinks! I nearly forgot about the bobbles! Too skronculous to play more than once.
Fun, but really really difficult in places.
I think it could have benefited a LOT from a level select or a better way to continue, the minigames are kind of frustrating, but overall, it's an enjoyable addition to the series, even if not perfect.
The art direction is really nice though, and I like the addition of Bubu as a character.

Sadly bubble bobbles reputation fell off a cliff in the 2000's and this game shows that very well. The controls arent tight and are floaty. The minigames that were added to "break things up" are horrible. The boss fights should be fun and simple but are rather horrible and frustrating since you are given a short time limit on each one. Still bubble bobble at its core, but with a lot of junk added.
