best game in the series from what i've played

Thankfully more challenging than many other Symphony-style Castlevanias, but also a touch too grindy as a result—and the quest system doesn't help that out, either. Like Portrait, its best asset is probably how it mixes up its structure: you're given a good deal of smaller-scale linear levels before you reach Dracula's Castle and come across more typical Metroidvania level design. In a way, it feels like a Metroidvania take on Super Castlevania IV, which also included a slow-burn build to the castle.

A somewhat refreshing take on the series after the Castlevania formula was starting to feel stale. Too bad it's the last one we got.

the worst of the ds castlevanias, doesn't mean it's bad tho, very good game just a bit outclassed
the visuals and presentation are absolutely top notch tho, incredibly good ost and probably my favorite visuals in the franchise...HOWEVER that is not enough to carry this game to be better than the others
somehow it ended up feeling more bullshit than the other metroidvanias to me, particularly the bosses were a pretty huge let down, they're still good but i think they were trying a bit to hard to make this game difficult. not anything on the level of circle of the moon mind you but still
still just exploring the areas was so fucking fun, that is the part of the game where i think the challenge of the game was to it's benefit. it just felt more engaging to go through the areas when they are like actually hard, i'd say they're about as hard as portrait of ruin's which is pretty much the way i'd like them to be
the glyph system is fine, i'd put it below the soul system but it's still really fun, just a bit more simple i found
overall amazing game, just has some rough spots

started really strong. idk why i just thought it was great. but tired on me so. weapons all have dumb names so theyre hard to find and none feel that strong. sidequests and village are pointless. Locations and screens are reused. stupid crab boss (but then u kill him by dropping huge elevator on him and its sick). this game has bigfoot which is amazing. bosses are too long and too hard a lot of the time. and not a fan of separate levels as opposed to one big one. the game just feels the same whether youre one hour in or 5.
