Playing Through My Evercade Collection Part 8: Mega Cat Studios 1

Another brawler in this Evercade pack and yet again its another one where you can see the passion put into it but it just falls apart due to basic gameplay issues. Combat is the name of the game but it just feels a little too whiffly thanks to vauge attacks and a paperclip range causing fights to just not feel aggressive enough. Add in having enemies often being able to easily knock large chunks off HP with the most basic of attacks and it can be a real slog to get through.

Thankfully we are on the Evercade so save scumming and reloading is a real thing and some of it is worth seeing thanks to a rather colourful story mode, a selection of amusing enemies to beat through and a few rather entertaining minigames to break up proceedings...

I get some of the really really negative ratings here, this is a game that is absolutely not served well outside of the console it was made for, especially without the context of its original homebrew console release. Evercade at least puts some ointment on the issues here but it doesn't save the game from being a bit on the naff side as ideally you shouldn't have to rely on save scumming to enjoy a game.

Generic bug fest, played it for 20 minutes which have been more than enough. Dont play this game!

I bought this on whim for a buck. I liked the idea and theme of the game but Coffee Crisis is such a poor quality beat um up. Coffee Crisis has to be the worst feeling brawler I've ever played. Hitting enemies, enemy feedback, attack range, attack sound are all so weak and off putting. Nothing feels good. It's like just go into a group of enemies and just mash and hope you stun lock them before they hit you. You can die very easy in this game as well, even on normal. There are lots of enemies that love to just hang back and shoot projectiles at you while your ganged up by others. So much fun being chipped away. Then there are some enemies or bosses that have infinite armor and can't be stunned. It almost feels like an arcade coin muncher in the worst ways possible. Even it's theme and unffunny story don't save it. I'd pass on this even if it's cheap and your bored.
