Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness is a tactical RPG in the Disgaea series. The game is a sequel to 2003's Disgaea: Hour of Darkness for the PlayStation 2, where the respective main characters of that game will again be the focus. Gameplay in Disgaea D2 remains the same as other core Disgaea games in the series. Monster Mounting is a new feature that replaces Magichange from Disgaea 3 and Disgaea 4. Characters can also build relationships with each other and their compatibility is determined by a heart scale of 1 to 5. Another feature is the Cheat Shop, which allows the player to modify certain attributes such as lowering the gain rate of something like experience, to raise the gain rate of something else, like Hell.

First Disgaea did not really need a sequel, yet here we are.
Worth a play if only for the D1 cast and slightly more polished game mechanics, but unfortunately it's still stuck on PS3.

Story wise, this game is one of the stupidest and least needed in the entire franchise. Gameplay wise, a lot of new additions are very welcome to the franchise going forward.

Disgaea stories have always been very hit or miss, there's a not too unpopular opinion that D1 is the only good story the franchise ever had, but DD2 is known for how not great it is. A lot of new characters get added, new lore around the D1 cast get established, unneeded things happen (Laharal-Chan was very strange) and more. It feels like filler, and it's how I choose to engage with DD2, It's dumb filler that won't ever really be important. The D1 cast are mostly relegated to DLC that can be ignored in later games and even there, most the events here aren't really mentioned.

If you really care about Disgaea's story, you'll hate this, if you're willing to just let it be some dumb fun with some exceptionally good gameplay, you'll have a blast.

In terms of gameplay, this might be one of the best Disgaea games ever made, and one of the best entries in the series for people who like to do all the extra stuff after the story.
Story wise? As cringe and dumb as you can expect from Disgaea, but that's not a negative for me.

Was a really interesting entry into the series, I really enjoyed it.

Creo que disgaea 1 no era tan malo en retrospectiva.

No irónicamente el juego sería de 4 y medio si le quitases la historia
