Doom 4 Vanilla is a very fun way to re-experience the authentic style of gameplay from Doom 2 with updated combat expectations more in line with DOOM (2016). It is perfectly paired with Doom 2 - The Way We Remember It, a surreal recreation of Doom 2 where every level is made from memory. You end up with a nail-biting dream-delve of a Doom campaign that is fairly fun. It is ultimately still just a rerun of Doom 2, which is a fun game, but your mileage may vary.

Personally, I played this one in a nightly build of Crispy Doom, but it should effectively work in most source ports.
