Based on the arcade game, in Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters you are sent in on a rescue mission to Planet X. This planet has been taken over by robots and you must find and evacuate the remaining humans. It's a shooter similar to Gauntlet, only with an isometric viewpoint. You run around the levels shooting robots, rescuing humans and picking up items.

It certainly has its own flavor, I just wish they had ditched the eight-directional isometric shooting.

Amazing music. Joint favourite, I think.

Ive got a question. Who actually owns the rights for this one? Both Atari and Midway/WB have released multiple compilations over the years, all trying to scrape the barrel of content for re-release and yet somehow this has never made it to any of them?

Ramble aside this is a pretty speedy and chaotic little shooter that feels like an awkward take on Gauntlet. Its not quite as unfair as Gauntlet is but it does come close often, especially during moments where its difficult to avoid shooting captured humans.
