The Master System port of Fantasy Zone differs visually from the original arcade Sega System 16 version, since the hardware is much more limited.

I was almost about to rage quit again on the final boss like I did on the Arcade version thinking this boss is impossible. Then I realized you can buy 9 heavy bombs and tried to spam them and he died in like five seconds. I can't believe it was that simple.

The game is good btw. Pretty nice port of the game that's worth playing.

An interesting conversion with its own pros and cons. The levels are all there from the original, outside a boss and a boss phase that couldn't be rendered on the hardware. The screens are also less capable of fulling you with the arcade's bullshit, but you get different ones instead like enemies poofing in out of nowhere.

The shop is improved from the arcade, the prices of items are reduced, and most importantly there's no time limit to shopping so you can think your purchases through. You still have to scroll in the shop but I'll take what I can get.

So in short, Master System Fantasy Zone is "Fantasy Zone but easier but also not really"

Fun little romp! Loved the character designs and visuals. I enjoyed it alot and I wanna check the series out more!

I like this port more than the AC version, the MS console specs make it so charming and candy-shaped. So easy to pick up and play, such a gorgeous color palette, so shrill and glockenspiel-y, I could shed a tear just looking at it. Easily the Master System's best game.

While fine enough in terms of mechanics and looks, and controls I guess, the game itself feels really monotonous and frustrating at points. As an example, you gotta mash the fire button to get any sort of good damage in fast on bosses and it honestly kinda hurts my thumb and wrist.
Oh, and the final boss feels straight up impossible without specific weapons. That just sucks.
