A remake of Far Cry

The game follows the story of a man named Jack Carver. Carver is a former service member of the United States Navy, who was dishonorably discharged following a number of illegal actions. Afterwards, he sets up a shop in Manhattan and begins supplying illegal arms to anyone and everyone, until a gang performs a hit using weapons supplied by Jack against a Mafia heir. Consequently, a price is put on his head by the Mob, and he was forced to flee the United States and settle in Micronesia.

Needs replaying after all these years

Lol I thought this was a 1:1 port when I played this in 2009

This is worth 4 stars for the map builder alone.

Not for a moment do I care about story or really the singleplayer much, cause buddy, Instincts was about the map maker and the multi. Hours and hours of fun from making weird little locales and running around maps others made in custom games. Only thing a Far Cry game ever needs is a map maker and eventually they fucked that up too.

Absolutely miserable little game. Starts off like it might be a decent little 2000's shooter, but ironically devolves as the game goes on.

First off, I hate any game that tells you "you are a super soldier", while you simultaneously die from one or two hits. Wow, I really feel super powered and mutated getting game overs from stray sniper bullets I never could have seen coming with my mutated super vision.

Speaking of the powers, they are given to you piecemeal and at the slowest rate possible. By the time you have all them, you have very little game left, but don't you worry because these powers fucking suck anyhow. For example, you get an ability to lunge at the enemy and do a one hit kill swipe attack. Neat! Oh, but the enemies are all still shooting you during this, and the animation takes forever, so OOH! Sorry, looks like you died before the swipe actually hit the enemy. OH WELL! Better luck next time!

Just about the only power that is actually useful is the super speed which I used to super speed past any fucking optional enemy encounter in the rest of the game. Well I definitely didn't want to fight those awful bullet sponges, so thanks for that I guess?

Oh yes, bullet sponges. What, you thought just because you die in 1 to 2 hits that the enemies would follow the same rules? Fuuuuuuck no. Unload that Machine gun clip, they ain't going down. Toss that grenade. Splash damage? Never heard of it! They will shrug that shit off and just keep firing, all the live-long day! And then Far Cry Instincts throws in The Flood from Halo. So now you have mutants shooting you with guns. AND THEN they decided that wasn't enough so now the mutants scream and run at you and EXPLODE like Serious Sam enemies. Holy. Fucking. Shit. Every fight in this game is just Far Cry Instincts VS. my own goddamn patience.

And my patience ran out FAR before the game's runtime did. Hey Ubisoft, when you show me another level and my reaction is: "Oh god. When does this FUCKING GAME END?!" It's probably a sign that something is wrong.

I hated this game. The Far Cry games are my popcorn open world shooter series that I can throw on and listen to music or a podcast, not having to worry about bullshit deaths, or checkpoints, or story, but this game just had me wanting to pull my hair out instead.

I wish I could say, "at least it's over." But some bastard thought this game deserved a sequel in Far Cry Instincts: Evolution...

DON'T FORGET. YOU'RE HERE FOREVER.
