let's go lesbians let's go!!!

If you love visual novels, and are still sleeping on the Fault series, you're doing yourself a grave disservice. The presentation, narrative, and execution of Fault 2 is spectacular, to not mince words.

The biggest critique that can be offered of the series so far is that there can sometimes be an over-explanation of some points. Often times characters will rehash the same thing they just discussed, or have plodding conversations that don't advance the story. This can make the plot feel padded in places, and it slows to a bit of a crawl.

But the reason I have to point out any critique at all is because Fault 2 is able to craft such a stunning, impactful story that any lover of science-fantasy can not ignore. Refined from its prequel, Fault 2's narrative is every bit as intriguing from a worldbuilding view, while taking the liberties of its unique setting, and ramping up the drama and emotional intensity to 11. While several of the twists are especially entertaining, the climax and denouement in particular are extremely well executed, and is some expertly orchestrated writing. If you're not feeling choked up by the credits sequence, there's a special piece of art to greet you later that may change your mind.

Read Fault. You need good stories, and this is where you'll find one.

An absolutely wild ride, paced much better than the first VN

Really really messy, formally, in an endearing way. It's got a lot on its mind, like "Maybe the internet is actually good?" and "Maybe capitalism is actually bad?" This series is showing itself to have an interesting sense of political awareness.

I'm disappointed my favorite character is removed for most of this episode, but the next one (it's another cliffhanger ending but I've learned not to expect otherwise) seems like it'll be all about her, so, yay. I'm not super confident about the future of the series—if the sequel comes out next year that will be a 5 year gap, it's setting up questions I'm not sure it knows how to answer, it's starting to skirt around the idea of fanservice, etc.—but right now I'm really looking forward to the continuation.
