"Galak-Z is a modern, A.I. and physics-driven open-world action game, viewed through the lens of the classic 16-bit space shooter. It’s 2D combat taken to the next level. Players will take control of a variety of classic spacecraft inspired by anime of the late 70’s and early 80’s, piloted by a cast of characters every bit as colorful as the rainbow-hued explosions erupting all around them. Newtonian physics take center stage as players experience finely-tuned control, blasting enemies, unleashing missile salvos, and tossing enemies into explosive obstacles. The bar is raised for intense deep-space dogfighting with dynamic and life-like enemies, powered by the next generation Cyntient AI platform, developed by Cyntient Inc. Players will be forced to outmaneuver, outgun and outsmart enemies that think, react and cooperate like seasoned pilots. Both stealth and skill are required to defeat enemy squads in a brutal game of cat and mouse. Prepare for an enemy that comes alive like never before." The game was later re-branded as Galak-Z: The Void with the released of a free DLC update for the game.

i like the style of this game. its decently fun to play but not particularly noteworthy

One of the first games I pre-ordered and followed before it came out. Its been a while since I've played it but I have fond memories of it.

It's fun but the roguelite stuff it does doesn't really matter due to the lack of build diversity, and the game is literally missing an ending because the devs decided based on player completion achievements that not enough players would finish the new content.

I gave up on this one real quick. Nah

A pretty neat roguelike where you pilot a very cool mech which I like more in concept than in practice. Flying around, while a bit cumbersome, really plays to the mech fantasy really well. The action is a bit tactical, and very intense given the roguelike nature of it. I think the main problem is just that though, the roguelike nature of it. Runs aren't that different from each other so having to restart wears on you fast, especially if you lose a good run to a glitch like I did once. Not ideal!

70s anime styles space action game. You can switch between a ship (guns, missiles, dodge) and mech (sword, shield, and grapple) mode and will find or purchase upgrades with salvage between each mission. Expressive animations for your character on the bottom left of the screen that shows the effect on him while doing things like boosting or attacking and enemy pilots on the bottom right get the same treatment. Responsive movement. Light on content with limited mission variety, upgrades that are taken from you after each season (every five of the 20 missions) that you will likely just get back, enemy variety, and locations but the base gameplay is enjoyable while it lasts.
