David Goldman is an amateur photographer, who always loved to take pictures. One day, he went to Los Angeles Photography School to study more about taking pictures. Everyday, David commutes on the crowded trains, but trained and learned better in the academy so he can achieve his dreams on becoming the best photographer he ever wished for. He was happy at that time, but suddenly misfortune hit him. David's parents suddenly died in a plane crash, leaving him orphaned and all alone. He loved his parents deeply and cried at their burial, thinking that they will come back. David lost his confidence and is about to leave the academy to live a lonely and sad life. However for Dean, the principal of the academy saw him and made an unexpected proposal to him. The principal said if he completed 8 tests by taking 8 special photograph shots in 8 different locations, then he's allowed to graduate in the academy. Unsure about this offer, David still accepted the test and did everything he could to pass.

this game is a sort of proto pokemon snap, and if that sentence alone is enough to get you curious, by all means, check it out. there's an english patch available.
the game's a 2d auto-scrolling sidescroller, you speed up and slow down your always-moving character with left and right on the d-pad, but you also control the cursor with the d-pad. the cursor moves faster than your character, but it can be awkward having to move both, but that's not much of a problem if you focus more on snapping than moving. it may seem like you should dodge out of the way of any incoming hazards, but you can just snap them away. thankfully they're outlined in red, so it never feels very bs if you get hit, buuuuuut that said, the game isn't easy. in fact, its rather punishing. see, there's "ammo" in this game, you can earn more film rolls for your camera by taking certain shots in the game to get more, but sometimes that requires at least 2 shots, and if youre also snapping away hazards, that can be... intense. so sometimes, dodging is the better option, particularly in the later stages when ammo gets more hard to come by. the castlevania stage in particular can be rather annoying. thankfully, stages are rather short and there arent that many, keeping this game in a sweet spot of "it's hard, but fun and doesnt overstay its welcome".

oh yeah and there are also some dated stereotypes and depictions in the game, so if you're sensitive to that kinda stuff, probably just dont play this game. if you can't handle, or don't know of 2002 newgrounds, just avoid this game.
otherwise, have fun

now go out there and get me PICTURES OF SPIDER-MAN!

I knew this game's existences thanks to a youtuber who made an 50 minutes animation where the main character on this game was included.

This is, indeed, a videogame that exists and has a Heidi reference at the start of the game.
